Privacy

Inkin turns your words into a page you can share. Here is what happens to that content and your editing access.

Public pages

A page without a password is public. Anyone who finds its address can read it, and search engines may index it. There is no public directory on Inkin, but that does not make a page private.

Password-protected pages

Readers must enter the password before the server returns the article. Protected pages ask search engines not to index them. The address may contain words from your title, even when the page is protected.

Adding a password later does not remove earlier copies or screenshots. Old search results and snippets may remain until the search engine updates them.

This is server-side access control, not end-to-end encryption. Authorized readers can copy or share content. The service operator can access stored content where necessary to operate the service or respond to abuse.

Editing access and cookies

No account is required. Essential cookies remember editing access for up to 180 days and reading access for up to 24 hours. Active editing sessions may be renewed. Clearing website data, using a private window, or letting access expire can remove your editing access.

Your private edit link restores access on another browser or device. Anyone with that link can edit the page. Keep it separate from the reading link. If both the link and browser access are lost, we cannot promise to restore ownership.

Local drafts

Titles and article text are saved in your browser as drafts. Drafts may remain on your device even if you turn on password protection. Passwords and private edit links are not stored in local draft storage. Drafts are temporary browser data. To remove them, clear this site’s data in your browser.

What we store

We store article content, publication and update dates, access settings, password hashes, editing credentials, and essential security records. Passwords are hashed for verification. When a password is set or an author verifies an older password for sharing, we also store an encrypted copy so the author can copy the link and password together. Only authorized authors can retrieve that copy; other readers must supply the current password themselves. Passwords are not saved in local drafts. Removing password protection or deleting or blocking a page clears its stored password copy. Temporary security records help limit automated publishing, password guessing, and abuse.

We do not automatically load remote images in articles or include third-party advertising and analytics scripts. Following an external link is subject to the destination’s privacy practices.

Deletion and reports

Deleting a page removes it from reading and editing access. Its old address stays reserved so it cannot be reused for a different page. Existing copies held by readers or search engines are outside our control. Operational backups may retain earlier records for up to 30 days after deletion, until those backups expire.

Reports include the reason you submit and an optional contact address. We use them to review abuse and may restrict access to content. Resolved reports are retained for 90 days, then removed during scheduled maintenance. Avoid adding sensitive details that are not needed for the report.
